Le street marketing a depuis toujours éxisté, depuis l’homme sandwich jusqu’à la dernière publicité pour la chaine TNT en Belgique.

Bien qu’avant ce genre de publicité était réservé pour les petits budgets, on dirait bien que les multinationales veulent aussi s’en servir. Aujourd’hui cela arrive d’une manière beaucoup plus spectaculaire, dans lesquels les simples passants deviennent les acteurs de ces opérations.

Voici la dernière en date pour la chaine TNT .

Un autre exemple avec cette publicité Contrex datant de 2011.

These last days, in Quebec, there is like a taste of hope in the atmosphere.
Indeed, we can hear a lot of rumors telling that the Quebec City Nordiques’s team may come back to life.
A lot of information, but how to know the real percentage for this to happen.

Anyway, we would love to see what their eventual new identity could look like…

This duo from Philadelphia has been active since 2009. They constantly renew their songs and make us listen to rap music… which is not really rap music.
It puts us in a good mood.

As good montrealers, in love with the graphic design and curious about art, it is impossible for us to not know about Julien Vallée and his work. This art director from Quebec always succeed to keep his fingerprint into the works he made. Of course, at the beginning, but also when he worked for bigger projects with MTV, Artv or AOL.

We admire his photos/videos where the handmade side takes the place of the digital…

Homage to Moëbius (8 May 1938 – 10 March 2012)

Last Saturday, the very talented Jean Giraud, better known as Moëbius, passed away.

Moëbius was a pillar of French and international comics. He was best known for being the author of L’Incal, Arzach, as well as the co-creator of the famous Blueberry. He also helped conceiving and drawing the storyboards for films like Alien, The Fifth Element and even Tron (1982).

He began his career at the age of 18 and flooded us with atmospheres from unreal worlds, filled with strange and beautiful creatures, and décors that came straight out from his dreams. Moebius will always be a great source of inspiration for us.

École de la Montagne rouge

“The ‘École de la Montagne rouge’ is an initiative of young and creative candidates for the Graphic Design bachelor’s degree at UQAM. Through their thoughts, actions and graphic exploration, the ‘École de la Montagne rouge’ offers an alternative way to get involved with the student protest movement”. Source: École de la Montagne rouge.

With this premise, (and modeled after the Black Mountain College) the ‘École de la Montagne rouge’ was created. The project objective is to supply the student protest movement with visual material.

Baboon would like to emphasis this movement by highlighting their actions and claims. Stay informed on the student demands, the political reasons behind the tuition hikes and let us continue to ensure accessibility and good quality education for all.

Why we love to “hate” SID LEE

Do you sometimes look at your competitors and find yourself idolizing them, but hating them at the same time? For us, that competitor would be SID LEE. Except for the fact that we don’t really compete with them and we are still too small for them to even care. But we will get there with time and effort.

Last Wednesday, the Baboon team got the chance to attend a presentation organized by the “Centre d’entreprises et d’innovation de Montréal (CEIM)”, the topic of the presentation: Creativity to serve innovation by Jean-François Bouchard, Co-founder of SID LEE.

Even though I knew it wasn’t going to be this way, I was secretly hoping Jean-François was a boring and pretentious person. I wanted to demystify the image of the guy behind the company we look up to, but unfortunately he proved me wrong. After hearing him answer a gazillion questions by all the people there, it was easy to know why his company is so successful.

I realized right there that if we ever wanted an opportunity to rub shoulders with the big guys, we have a whole load of things to improve. To become a leader in the industry, we have to start by being leaders ourselves. We have to:

Communicate our ideas clearly
Make smart decisions
Establish objectives that are achievable
Plan the actions to reach such objectives
Know our strengths and weaknesses
Find ways to improve each other
Be charismatic
Innovate even in the smallest tasks
Be responsible for our actions
Be informed

And this applies to everyone (which is sort of my point here), if you work these aspects into your life’s day-to-day endeavors, you will successfully accomplish your objectives. You will be unstoppable, no doubt about it.

That being said, I really hope one day, Sid Lee will come to hate us the same way we love to hate them.
